What is Rotaract?

Rotaract stands for Rotary in Action. Rotaract is a Rotary-sponsored service club for young men and women ages 17 to 31. Rotaract clubs are either community or university based, and they're sponsored by a local Rotary club. This makes them true "partners in service" and key members of the family of Rotary. All Rotaract efforts begin at the local, grassroots level, with members addressing their communities' physical and social needs while promoting international understanding and peace through a framework of friendship and service. The purpose of Rotaract is to provide an opportunity for young men and women to enhance the knowledge and skills that will assist them in personal development, to address the physical and social needs of their communities, and to promote better relations between all people worldwide through a framework of friendship and service.


The goals of Rotaract are:

  1. To develop professional and leadership skills;
  2. To emphasize respect for the rights of others, and to promote ethical standards and the dignity of all useful occupations;
  3. To provide opportunities for young people to address the needs and concerns of the community and our world;
  4. To provide opportunities for working in cooperation with sponsoring Rotary clubs; and
  5. To motivate young people for eventual membership in Rotary.
Rotaract is an international organization of young professionals and students who are committed to service and leadership in their communities and abroad. Established in 1968 by Rotary International, Rotaract is a global network of young people who are changing the world with clubs in over 160 countries.

Rotaract Club Salzburg is a member of the 1920 district. We are young, dynamic and motivated people, following the motive of Rotary International "Service above self" in a combination with the Rotaract motives "Learning, Helping, Celebrating" at our best. Our goal is it to pay tribute to a better world, to broaden the understanding and respect against others and widen the range of friendship all over the world.
